Oncos Therapeutics awarded BioFinland 2011 Prize
March 22, 2011. Helsinki, Finland — The Finnish Bioindustries (FIB) and Finnish Fair Foundation have awarded the BioFinland 2011 Prize to Oncos Therapeutics, a biotech company developing novel cancer therapeutics based on its next generation oncolytic viruses.
“Oncos Therapeutics has boldly ventured to address major unmet medical needs in cancer therapy. It has generated promising data on its lead product candidate, and has the unique Advanced Therapy Access Program as a platform to create new oncolytic viruses and optimize their development programs“, comments Timo Veromaa, Chairman of The Finnish Bioindustries and the chairman of the nomination committee for the BioFinland 2011 Prize.
“The response and immunological data from the 200 advanced cancer patient patients treated in our Advanced Therapy Access Program with ten different viruses provide a foundation for the data driven clinical development program with our lead candidate CGTG-102. Even more importantly, we have already at this stage been able to help patients where routine therapies have failed”, comments Pekka Simula, Co-Founder and CEO.
